About Oakside Therapy

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is face” – James Baldwin

Why Therapy?

Therapy can be useful for all kinds of people, to process the difficult times of their lives, figure out where they want to go next or just getting some frustrations off their chest.

At it’s core, the sessions will be led by you as a space to use however you need to. Therapy can, of course, be challenging but we will only go where you feel comfortable to explore, there’s never a requirement to talk about a specific thing.

Today’s world moves fast and it’s easy to lose ourselves in the rush of daily life. Therapy offers an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with your own self.

Who Am I?

My name is Lennie, I trained at the University of East London, on a BACP accredited degree. Much of my experience has been working with parents to help support and understand their relationship better with their children. This often encompasses areas around neurodivergence and disability, something I have personal experience and understanding of.

A lot of the time, we therapists talk about a non-judgemental space, which is a lovely idea but I prefer the honesty that we aren’t always going to like and accept the people we interact with as soon as we meet them.

Being truly honest and curious is far more important to me and creates a much more genuine relationship. Therapy can make you face things that you wish hadn’t, if we can be honest about that then we stand a better chance at understanding it.

Though my training covered a range of approaches, I lean mostly towards a psychodynamic approach and continue to engage with research and training to keep my knowledge and experience up to date. Alongside my training, I am fully insured with public and professional indemnity insurance and have undergone enhanced DBS clearance.

Why Did Oakside Therapy Start?

Oakside Therapy was set up with the foundational idea of creating a space where each and every person can come to rest and find comfort, in whatever form that happens for them. Its my belief that this is the best way to start to explore your own relationship with yourself and from there begin to change your relationships with others.
