What Will Happen In Sessions?
I offer a free introductory, 20 minute session, where we cover your expectations and I can start get a sense for what has brought you to therapy and you get the opportunity to get an idea about how I work as well.
After that, if you choose to continue, the sessions will primarily be your space to talk about whatever is on your mind, in an honest and confidential space. I generally recommend having a check in every so often, to get an idea of how we feel the work is going. Early on this is usually after around 6-10 sessions.
Who Do You Work With?
My main areas of experience are in parental support, including being a single parent as well as the experiences of being neurodivergent. Though I work with all adult clients over the age of 18, with a range of challenges and difficulties such as: depression, anxiety; stress; trauma; LGBTQ+ and identity issues; sex, intimacy and kink; anger; bereavement and any other issues you wish to bring.
What Kind Of Therapy?
My training is integrative, meaning I have a “toolbox” of different types of therapy to adapt to what suits you best. One of the main ideas I work with is psychodynamic therapy, which allows us to look at your past to understand how that is affecting your present. This thinks about the ‘why’ of what’s going on for you.
I also find internal family systems to be very useful, which considers people to be made up of different parts with different purposes, each having their own relationship like a family. Ultimately, the way we work comes from our collaboration and what suits you best.
